Cygnett Revolution

Cygnett Revolution
Docking speaker system.
Docking speaker systems continue to impress with emerging designs in all sorts of weird and wonderful shapes and sizes. They have become a stylish accessory for the home as much as they are tor playing music and Cygnett certainly aims to meet both expectations with its Revolution speaker system.

The Revolution is a circular-design dock with a motorised cradle that rotates your iPhone or iPod touch in portrait or landscape modes. This is a handy feature for watching hands-free videos in widescreen view or to run apps in vertical or horizontal format.

The unit itself is lightweight and compact; its circular form gives it an unobtrusive, contemporary aesthetic that would look good next to a pre-existing home theatre setup. The main controls are located at the top of the unit, including all standard function buttons (Power, Play, Stop, etc) and a rotation control to position your mobile device. There is also a small remote control included.

Setup is a pretty simple affair. Just attach the power cord to the back of the dock and plug it into a power point and you're ready to go.

Depending on which model of iPhone or iPod you have, you will need to use one of three plastic inserts provided to hold your device. The iPhone 4 insert was fragile and not easy to attach, and I was nervous that attaching and removing it could cause it to break.

The Revolution played my tunes relatively well, but the sound lacked a richness and depth, making it ineffective in anything but a small room.
