Acer H7531D

Acer H7531D
Acer's H7531D delivers crisp, clear images from a Mac without hassles. As a standard-throw projector, I placed the H7531D about 1.5m from my screen. This delivered an image that was about 1.2m (47in) from corner to corner.

Acer claims a maximum projection distance of 10m, giving an image that's in excess of 7.5m (about 300in). For that to work, the room would need to be quite dim.
The H7531D can deliver a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 and is capable of full 1080HD, making it suitable for both home theatre and office applications. It has two HDMI inputs as well as VGA, S-Video and component connections. I connected it to a MacBook Air using the mini DisplayPort to VGA adaptor without any complications. From a cold start, I had a clear image on screen in less than a minute.
Compact and light, the H7531D can be carried easily as it weighs about 3.5kg - that's only 500g less than a 17in MacBook Pro. It ships with a carry case and includes VGA and composite video cables. At this price point, I'd like to see a HDMI cable included.
Although it's quite portable, the H7531D would make a good candidate for a home theatre system and can be ceiling-mounted Given the size of most lounge rooms, it would deliver a large, bright image from about 3m and accommodate a Blu-ray player and home theatre computer easily via the connection options.
